We found a building

Alhamdulillah. After a year of Jummah in a hotel conference room, the community has a building under contract: 135 Shelton Street — a modest, solid building on a corner lot with parking for forty cars, in a place that has held worship for decades.

What we're buying

The main hall has room for about 120 in prayer rows. The pews come out, the carpet goes down, a mihrab goes in — that really is most of the work. The renovation also covers wudu stations, converted restrooms, and a sisters' section with its own entrance plus a classroom for weekend Quran classes.

The numbers

The building is $160,000 and the renovation is $20,000 — $180,000 in total. A $10,000 deposit is already with the seller, the community has raised $61,500, and online donations add $2,200: $73,700 so far, alhamdulillah.

That leaves $86,300 to close on the building, and the funding deadline is October 31. The building fund is here — GoFundMe, Zelle, or a check at Jummah. Every square foot is $100, and there are about 1,200 to cover.
